MathWorks Tutorials

In the afternoon of February 18, 2025, two tutorial sessions at MATHMOD 2025 will be organized together with MathWorks. Both tutorial sessions will be held at Freihaus in Seminar Room DA 03A (green area, third floor). You can register free of charge using this form.

Interactive Notebooks and Autograding in MATLAB

Time:           13:30 – 15:00
Details:      In this tutorial, you will learn how to design lecture notes using interactive notebooks in MATLAB and convert these notebooks into autograded exercises with MATLAB Grader. We will use multilinear regression for predicting car gas consumption as a practical example. Additionally, you will learn how to share these interactive notebooks via MATLAB Online and MATLAB Drive. Finally, you will discover how to integrate these autograded exercises into a Learning Management System, specifically Canvas, to enhance the learning experience and effectively achieve learning objectives.

1st Principles and Neural Modeling of Dynamic Systems in MATLAB/Simulink

Time:           15:30 – 17:30
Details:      This tutorial aims at the many possible ways of modeling dynamic systems in MATLAB, Simulink and Simscape. Some of them are based on traditional first principles modeling but also a data driven model making use of a neuronal network is showcased. In all cases emphasize is put on the fact that modeling is done automatically without the need for explicit formulation by the user.
